COMMUNITY NEWS
WILEY ACQUIRES HEALTH ECONOMIC EVALUATIONS DATABASE (HEED)
On 1st November 2006, Wiley acquired the Health Economic Evaluations Database (HEED). Launched in 1995, HEED brings together in a single database the world’s most comprehensive literature on the cost effectiveness of medical treatments medicine and other healthcare interventions in a single database. It was originally developed as a joint initiative between the Office of Health Economics (OHE), UK, and the International Federation of Pharmaceutical Manufacturers’ Associations (IFPMA).
Created by professional health economists, HEED includes more than 33,500 records. Using bibliographic databases such as Medline, and EMBASE and data from, amongst others, Health Economics, the York Centre for Health Economics, and the ACP Journal Club, the information is is then indexed and collated for searching reviewed in light of both its costs and health effects on an intervention. Rigorously selected records and bibliographies are then added to the database. It also contains records for over 700 non-English language economic evaluations. Articles records in all the major European languages, as well as Chinese, Japanese, Korean and Russian are assessed for inclusion in the database.
HEED is available on a subscription basis. Contact your Wiley Account Manager or e-mail freynold@wiley.co.uk for more information.
