COMMUNITY NEWS
Establishment of the School of Public Health and Primary Care, The Chinese University of Hong Kong
We are pleased to announce the establishment of the School of Public Health and Primary Care (SPHPC) of The Chinese University of Hong Kong. The School of Public Health and Department of Community and Family Medicine will be designated SPHPC starting 1 August, 2009. The SPHPC will continue to be based in a building dedicated in 2001 and located on the site of its teaching hospital, Prince of Wales Hospital in Shatin.
The SPHPC is the first institution in Hong Kong to provide comprehensive education, training, consultation, and research in public health and primary care. With this change, the new School will become one of the four Schools within the Faculty of Medicine with a mission to improve the health of the population locally, nationally and internationally. The SPHPC is fully equipped to strengthen and expand our academic programmes in public health, to support and develop research capacity, and to enhance community interaction and innovation. We will continue to work closely in collaboration with partners from all relevant disciplines and institutions, and we hope this change will create opportunities for cultivating more public health and primary care professionals who will make a difference in the health of populations.
You are welcome to browse our updated information on our website at: http://www.sphpc.cuhk.edu.hk.
