Hannes Androsch Prize 2011: A Global Challenge to Our Social Future

This announcement invites submissions for the Hannes Androsch Prize. Entries should include a thorough analysis of the social welfare system. They should also provide proposals for an alternative design, which would optimise the magnitude and stability of pensions over time, and confront the double challenge of demographic developments and financial market risk.

Additional information on the Hannes Androsch Prize, sponsored by the Hannes Androsch Foundation at the Austrian Academy of Sciences, is available on the website of the Austrian Academy of Sciences http://www.oeaw.ac.at/hannesandroschprize

COMMUNITY NEWS

The University of York: Health Economics News from CHE

Issue 8 March 2010

In this issue we report on two pieces of recent research from CHE, both with a strong policy angle. The first explores the potential implications for decision making by NICE if it adopted a broader societal perspective for the evaluation of health technologies, incorporating the economic impact beyond the healthcare sector. The second considers methodological approaches that can be used to undertake robust policy evaluation in difficult areas such as public health, with a focus on the use of micro simulation models that allow comparison of outcomes under alternative policy scenarios. Recent CHE research papers, publications and activities are also listed.

Health Economic Network/Social Science Research Network

The following is a list of abstract entries in the Health Economics Network (HEN) of the Social Science Research Network (SSRN) for the past week. iHEA is a proud sponsor of HEN. HEN encourages the early distribution of research results by publishing submitted abstracts and by soliciting abstracts of top quality research papers from around the world. To view links to the abstracts listed below you may need to register with SSRN for free at http://ssrn.com/hen/index.html.
